Okay, I have to admit that I've been enjoying the All Star break a bit, and the chance to go blogless for a few days.
But, I find that checking the sports headlines has become such a part of my daily routine, I can't really drink my morning Coke Zero without it.
So while I should be basking in baseball bliss - 28 home runs in the first round of the derby!, Braun in the second round!, 15 innings of All Star Game fun! - instead all I see is Favre, Favre, Packers, Vikings, Favre.
Everybody seems to have an opinion, so I'll tell you mine: I'm embarassed for Brett. This tantrum was awkward a week ago; now it's down-right pathetic. It's big city brash and not at all the modest, down home class that we expect from Wisconsin stars.
As the New York Times said this morning, "What began as a snit has become a barroom brawl, spilling into the street."
But the best point the NYT makes is this one: "There's a lesson for all of us - coaches, general managers, players: You can be replaced."
Acting as though that's not true is childish. And really believing it's not true, well that's naive and arrogant to the point of being disgusting.
I expected much better of Favre.
