So, you might be wondering why I didn't post anything after last night's win.
It was a great, exciting game. And, after a lot of complaints from me throughout this year about lost late-game opportunities, I was happy to eat my words.
But here's the thing that bummed me out: I'm leaving.
I'm going to miss the next 5 games by about 8,000 miles.
So tonight when Milwaukee welcomes home its stars, I'll miss it.
Sunday when we sweep the Astros, I'll miss it.
And Tuesday when we clobber the Cubs, yep, I'll miss that too.
Of course, I'll try to catch some of the games through the magic of Tivo and Slingbox. And, Pete has agreed to keep me posted and maybe even write a little something on the blog.
Still, after making it to 47 games these past few months, missing 5 in a row now hurts.
When I stop and think about it, though, I have to admit it's a little bit of a hurts-so-good kind of thing.
I started this summer and this blog fearing that by game 40, I'd have had enough baseball for a lifetime.
Instead, here I am agonizing over a mid-summer trip most people would love.
It feels kind of good, actually...to adore a team and a sport so much.
So, there: It's settled.
I may be leaving. And I may be missing baseball. But I wouldn't miss this missing feeling for the world.
