First: Welcome back Gabe Kapler. (I've been waiting to write that for so long....and I hope you too are hearing the "Welcome Back Kotter" theme music in your head right now.)
Second: I can't believe I spent almost 5 hours at the ballpark today, but had to hear from my mother-in-law that Gross got traded after the game. You'd think they could have mentioned that on the post-game show or something.
Third: I'll miss Gabe Gross. I get that he doesn't fit in the lineup anymore, but he seemed like a good guy and a team player. That said: Thank goodness we're keeping Kapler.
And, finally, if you didn't see it, hope you'll enjoy Curt's comment on game eight, here. Sums up my feelings on the game, too.
Congrats on the game today...but at this rate your bullpen will be dead by June. Thank you for beating those damn Cardinals. Your Cubbie friends and Ronnie Cedeno sincerely thank you.
Sorry about Gabe Gross...he did do great job off the bench year after year.
Gabe Kapler - comeback player of the year winner, and it's not even May yet.
