I Laughed, I Cried, I Had Questions

When the Brewers squeaked by with today's 4-3 win in the 10th, I was relieved but also puzzled. Here are my questions. Hit "Comments" to share your thoughts...

*Why oh why did Gagne get to stay in so long; what's the trigger for when you pull a Closer?

*On TV and the radio nobody seemed to understand why Prince balked at stepping on the bag with Pie plowing toward him. Doesn't anybody remember the second-to-last game last season when he did exactly that, got nailed in the ankle and ended up missing the season closer?

*Where can I buy some light-brown hair dye in a hurry. Thanks to that 9th inning I now have twice the grey hair I had this morning.

The Smack Talk and Wagering Have Already Begun

Sheesh. It's 3 innings into the game and the Cubs fans are already talking smack.

I made a wager this morning with some guy that if Chicago wins this opening series, I'll wear a Cubs hat to a Brewer game with him; or if the Brewers win...well you get the picture.

"Some questions to ponder?

- Do you think that the Brew Crew will throw in the towel after getting swept in their first 3 games?

- Will the Brewers draw bigger crowds for the home games against the Cubs than for all the other home games combined?

- If they got rid of the sausage race, would people still go to Miller Park?"

So now you get it. I need everyone to get in there, comment, and help me beat back these ridiculous Cubs fans...PLEASE.

It's about Dialogue, Dammit

Got a great comment this weekend that tees up the season and includes a few sentiments I wholeheartedly share:

"...On paper (or arguably, "on paper and in concept"), we have one of the strongest (and deepest) starting rotations in the majors. Then again, we didn't have a single starter who won more than 12 games last year. So there's that..."

...and...

"...My biggest sorrow on opening day will be the absence of Damian Miller. That guy was just the heart and soul of Old School Brewer Baseball. I realize he's older than Job, but he was always good for some theatrics, if not perspective in the clubhouse after a tough loss ("Mongo likes candy.)..."

Hope you'll go read the whole thing. Wish I could take credit for the smart, and smart-ass, comments enclosed...but that's the whole point. It's about dialogue, dammit.

Welcome to My Summer of Baseball. I'm not into the swing of things yet...but the season is about to begin. Watch for my first post after the first pitch meets bat in Milwaukee on April 4....
